I have wondered the same thing. I asked on Yahoo! Answers one time, but they took down the question because I linked it to the site I was wondering about. I know the one I was looking at wouldn’t tell you what channels you received which I thought was a little shady. Good luck.

I bought 3 types from Ebay but they are not good. I bought Elite Package which I am watching everyday now. I go for Fox News and Bloomberg while I’m working on my computer. Sometimes I watch the Hollywood movie when I’m bored somewhere. But of course its not the latest.
I don’t know about 3,000 channels. I only see about 5 or 6 as they are very clear. I’m fussy about reception.
Works even when I’m traveling as long as the hotel has internet. Recently I saw a few more packages. You can see the reviews of some 5 types at this site – http://satellite-tv-review.info/
If you find they don’t work, ask for refund. They usually have a guarantee. The ones in Ebay are cheap but no guarantee.
Normally the ones without guarantee are not good..
