Is it possible to watch TV on the computer?

I want to get rid of my television and I wanted to know if there is a way to connect cable to my computer and hook a VCR to it. Is this at all possible?

    You need a tuner card.

    Those "internet TV" softwares should be avoided, becasue they do not offer normal TV channels.

    You dont need a VCR to it. You only need to pay a little per month to have many many channels on the computer. Just search for "TV internet" or something like that on google and you will find tons and tons of offers and channels, the only thing you need is internet and a credit card that pays for the channels.
