2000 gave us one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, Chicken Run. This is a highly acclaimed animation film and has already won a number of awards and nominations including the prestigious Golden Globe nomination. The film falls into the genre of comedy drama and it is set in the 1950s’ Yorkshire.

The film portrays the romance between two farm bred chickens, Rocky and Ginger. These two chickens yearn for freedom and hit upon an escape plan as seen in the movies. The chicken farm is known as the Tweedy Egg Farm. Ginger is one of the chickens in this farm who is desperate to flee the farm but is always let down by her incompetent partners. She is extremely capable of fleeing the farm but bad luck does not seem to desert her.

However Ginger, the leader of the chicken family, hatches one plan after another to escape from the farm but all meets disastrous results as he is always let down by his companions. One night a chicken gets axed in the farm and this leaves Ginger unhappy. He is wandering in the farm when suddenly he notices a rooster crashing on to the farm. He introduces himself as a member of the nearby circus and his name is Rocky.

He asks Ginger to protect and save him when the circus party arrives at the farm looking for him. Ginger agrees but asks for a return favor. Rocky should teach Ginger and her friends how to fly so that they can fly away to freedom. Rocky agrees and teaches to fly but in the process leaves no stone unturned to totally irritate them especially Ginger and organizer Officer Fowler. On the other hand, the owner of the farm, Tweety’s purchased a machine to make chicken pies and intend to cook all the chickens of the farm. But were Ginger and her friends’ fortunate enough to fly away from the farm? Did she escape or she too became one of those ‘chicken pies’? The answers to all these and many more can be found when you watch the film.

The Chicken Run movie is a real classy entertainer. It is a real family entertainer and should be enjoyed by all in the family. There is a healthy mix of humor and intellectual parodies that lifts the flick above all the other animation movies produced in the decade. The dialogues in the film are very good and a special mention must be made of all the voice givers given in the movie. Mel Gibson is the voice of Rocky and he is simply outstanding. We get to hear some outstanding voice modulations that will really surprise you. Julia Sawalha is the voice of Ginger and you need to watch the movie just to appreciate her wonderful work. Actually the film leaves very little scope for criticism.

The only loophole of the movie is perhaps the animated chickens which are a far cry from the real chicken in terms of looks. But I doubt whether you really want to see real chickens on screen. The animation overall is really good and the music is soothing.

This is a movie which you never miss. It is true that people will enjoy watching this movie at theaters but if you are hard pressed for time you can watch Chicken Run online free right from your bedroom.

Watch Mulan Online For Free

Tony Bancroft’s Mulan is a Walt Disney produced animated feature film. It has won a number of international prizes including the Golden Globe for the Best Original Score.

Mulan is the fiery young woman who is not running after Princes’ but defending his motherland, China against the marauding Huns. She has simple goals – save father, save China and cement a respectable place for women in the traditional Chinese land. The story tells us that the Huns are invading China and each member of the Chinese families’ has been encouraged to join the battle against the invaders. Mulan’s father too was set to join the Chinese army but Mulan sneaks away with the armor to take his father’s place in the Chinese army.

When the war started Mulans’ inexperience comes to the forefront but she continues to fight valiantly in order to win the trust of her fellow soldiers. There is a big showdown with the head Hun in the end but you need to watch the film to know the outcome of his hard battle.

The film has some really nice voices going for but it fails to connect with the audiences. Eddie Murphy as Mushu is probably the only saving grace in the film. The character of Mulan sometimes gets overshadowed by some unnecessary sequences or characters which could have been dispensed with. Though Eddie Murphy does well in the voice of Mushu, one just feels that perhaps this character is the worst sidekick in a Disney animation film. It is a dismal film and is not worthy of a fair run at the box office.

There are a couple of scenes in Mulan which is totally uncalled for in a Disney flick. First, Mulan gapes at the bare – chested Captain in the training camp. Secondly, there is a bathing scene involving Mulan which could have been more aesthetically shot. Above all this, there are lots of bosom and cleavage jokes. These all could have been avoided in a film meant for children.

The main usp of the film is the animation design and illustration. The influence of traditional Chinese art is profound and cannot be ignored at all. The colors are good and subtle and in the battle scenes the colors have been used intelligently to almost bring alive the war between Huns and the Chinese. The horses in the films are the best creation and frankly speaking, I am yet to come across a film which portrays better usage of colors than this one.

This is an animation not to be missed at any cost. So just go out and rent the DVD or if you are hard pressed for time watch Mulan online free .

The G-Force movie, is written by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, the husband and wife team who have in the past delivered many hits like National Treasure, Bad Boys II etc. It is an out and out family flick and therefore a great hit with all age groups. After watching this movie, what might prove to be difficult is, the part where you tell your kids that it will not be possible to keep rodents as pets because that is what they will want to do after watching the movie.

A mole and three guinea pigs are trained to speak like humans through some devices that are fitted in them. They form the G-squad and are trained spies. Ben, (Zack Galifianakis) a scientist who works for the government on the low level trains them. He also specializes in training insects to carry in to small spaces, tiny cameras and is considered to be the lord of the flies.

Darwin (Sam Rockwell’s voice), the lead pig is to go on a mission assigned to him by Ben. He is to be assisted by Juarez (voiced by Penelope Cruz) a latina, feisty guinea pig and Blaster (voiced by Tracy Morgan)a guinea pig who is African-American and Speckles, the mole (Nicholas Cage), the tech guyin all missions. Speckles also plays the role of talking the guinea pigs through any mission as he gets to electronically survey the vicinity that needs to be broken in to before the guinea pigs move in. His ethnic background remains undisclosed.

Ben suspects Sabar, (Bill Nighy) an industrialist who is a billionaire of scheming to conquer the world through his electrical appliances. Therefore he sends his squad on a mission which goes awry. This leads the FBI (Will Arnett and co) to close down Ben’s zoo and gives all the zoo animals to a pet shop. The guinea pigs meet a crazy hamster (Steve Buscemi), who partially is a ferret and Hurley (voiced by Jon Favreau) another guinea pig that is chubby while in the pet shop. They help each other in their escape from the pet shop and seek to avenge this wrong together.

After escaping from the pet shop, the rodents and the mole along with their new found friends aim to head toward Sabar so that they can foil his deadly plans. This part on the action begins. The chase along with the constant one liners thrown in even while running or chasing with keep you on the seat or let you fall off the seat with laughter alternately. The pace of the story is peppy at all times.

The’80′s saw a lot of sci-fi Hollywood movies released each year, but none of these movies came close to being as great and magnificent as The Back to the Future movie. If Marty does anything wrong he might change the course of his own future in a very drastic way.

Every stage of the movie is studded with great performances from the two lead actors who are well supported by the rest of the cast. Other than the acting what fascinated the crowd the most was the electrifying car that touches high speeds and just vanishes into nothingness before coming out in another time in the same place. The movie was such as great hit that even today people refer to it as one of the best ever science fiction movies of our time.
