I want to watch tv shows on my computer in real time. Not on youtube or any uploaded video site. So is it possible for me to watch the shows i watch on my tv here on my computer? Do i need any hardware and stuff?

Yes, it is possible
A few ways
1) get a tv tuner card and either listen to OTA (over the air) broadcasts or plug in your cable to the card
2) A slingbox (or something like it). I have a sling box. It is a piece of hardware that you plug your home cable into and it re-broadcasts the tv signal over the internet. I can watch TV on my PC anywhere that has high speed internet. That includes hotels, work….etc. Sometimes, I even use it to watch TV when at home in a room without a tv (or in my back yard). On my sling, I can get every single channel/service that I can get from home. That includes DVR, On Demand movies, DVD’S (if they are in the DVD player) and cable TV
