i am thinking about purchasing a tv tuner for my pc. i was wondering how these devices work. my main concern is how would i change the channel? any info is helpful as i dont know much about these devices yet…

You use software to change the channels.

Basically, if you get one you are given several options to tune in TV.

You could go with the Microsoft Media Center, MediaPortal, or GB-PVR, among other things. Once you access the TV option there should be an option to change the channel. And get a remote included with the card if possible, super helpful.

So I downloaded the ORB app for my bb storm and you can watch tv, but i need a tv tuner for pc in order to watch tv on my storm. i have cable tv (dvr/receiver) and has the usb slot on it. so is it possible to connect that dvr/receiver to pc as a tv tuner via usb?

no as it is an input not an output.no you can use a slingbox as well to watch tv on your mobile device.
