Why hasn't there been any advertising for Computer software on TV for quite a while?

Why don’t Computer Software manufacturers, or developers, advertise their products to the general public?
Can’t Computer Software products be used for other purposes other than just for the Office person or business?

Most people know how to surf the net these days and know how to find the info they want online not from tv whether info or products. Software products has uses we tend not to think about. Your car, microwave and other appliances have software that control them.

since most software is for a specific use, most people locate the software themselves rather then them being told about it, it’s more cost effective for them and advertising would only be for a few people. unlike games, they can be for everyone.
